Evert den Hartog
Born in the Netherlands in 1949. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam. From 1971 to 1976 he studied art under renowned sculptors Arie Teeuwisse and Bram Roth. Initially, he was involved in ceramic sculpture, then he worked in bronze.
The subject of his works are animals – especially birds and bulls, and mythological creatures. Looking at his work, one can relate to the illusion that bronze has no weight, because his animals often balance on one leg, caught in various stages of movement. Often his works are colored with a touch of subtle humor. Each sculpture is carefully polished, and the cold material comes alive thanks to a beautiful patina.
He is also a valued artist photographer.
The artist’s works have been presented at exhibitions all over the world, including Japan, USA, Singapore and Europe. His works were also in the public space of the Dutch cities of Zoetermeer and Rotterdam.
