Hedy de Greef
Hedy de Greef was born in Suriname (South America), but when she was a child she moved to the Netherlands, where she grew up and studied at the Fashion Academy in Arnhem.
When she resided in Suriname at the beginning of 2000, her drawing and painting talents were discovered by a close friend who encouraged her to study in this field.
She was admitted to the Art Academy in Paramaribo, and her first exhibition was in the gallery of the Surinamese Museum at Fort Zeelandia Paramaribo. Shortly after graduating from the Academy of Art, she returned to the Netherlands, where she began to cooperate with many galleries, developing her unique and very recognizable style.

She creates mainly on large-format canvases, using her own technique combining various painting means. Thanks to this, works with varied texture and interesting colors are created. Her paintings are mainly abstractions inspired by life experiences and jazz music. When viewing the artist’s works, depending on the mood and emotions, different things appear every time, which makes her paintings very lively and exciting.
